Ira and William Davenport were undoubtedly controversial, being accused of fraud on many occasions; however, others were convinced that the phenomena produced in their presence was genuine.
Thomas Low Nichols, the author, simply asserts that he has faithfully reported what people have witnessed in the presence of these extraordinary brothers. Frauds or genuine physical mediums, he leaves you, the reader, to draw your own conclusions.
This book covers a period of some eleven years of their life; they travelled extensively in the U.S.A. and ventured as far as England.
Controversial? Definitely. Frauds? I do not know. Read the book and decide for yourself.
